Numcha

February 2010 (Now)

This is Numcha. She is 5 weeks old and comes from a village in a remote part of Thailand on the Thai-Burma border. When Numcha was first born, her mother poisoned her, and also drank the poison herself. Although her mother died, Numcha survived and has been looked after in hospital for the last few weeks. Now she has gone home to be looked after by her father, and also by her sister, Daukmai, who is 7 years-old. If she can get a sponsor, Daukmai will be able to go to school and get an education to break out of the poverty cycle that has devastated her family.Numcha has been given some initial supplies- clothes, nappies and bottles- but will need an on-going supply of milk powder. She really needs financial help, as her father, Aryee, cannot work as he has to care for his two daughters now. Also, while he was in Chiang Rai looking after Numcha in hospital, Aryee had all his things taken from his house in the village. His clothes, kitchen things, chickens and food are all gone. We would like to help him by setting up a FAITH garden (which stands for Food Always In The House). We would buy the tools and plants for him, meaning that he can then have food for his family.
